Mandrake Park Pickleball Courts

Kennicott (Jonathan) Park

Kennicott Park is a moderate sized neighborhood park in the Kenwood Neighborhood with a great little playground. The playground features a somewhat sprawling play structure with a variety of slides, climbing elements, and overhead features. There are two standalone elements and a set of swings with the Chicago Park standards: toddler, adaptive, and belt seat. The play area is fenced from the street but not fully enclosed and the play surface is wood chips. There are a few benches and the nearby fieldhouse provides access to bathrooms and drinking fountains (when open). All in all, this is a great neighborhood playground; highly recommend.

Great park district, nice coaches and staff. We joined the pickleball program last fall and kid loved it!

This is a great place for children ages 3 and up with year round indoor activities. Classes are available on the park district website. The playground is excellent and well maintained. The place also has a gym with weights and treadmills. While I could hope for better maintenance of the gym equipment, the other features more than make up for it.

McFetridge Sports Center

1 of few indoor tennis courts in the city and no membership required to book court time. Books up fast during the winter, more availability during the warmer months when playing outside is an option. Ball machine rentals available.

The only year round park district skating rink. Reasonable prices. Skate rental available. Classes and public open skating. Family bathroom, snacks, recycling, music piped into the skating rink, lockers. Water fountains, playground and some tennis courts outside.

This is one of the best park districts in Chicago.  There are various sports classes that you can participate in at a very good price

I absolutely LOVE Mcfetridge! I have been going there for years, I took lessons as a kid and I go for Free skate on weekends. Great affordable price. It is indoor so it is year round. I always get a couple of friends and go for an hour. There is also indoor tennis and a gym! Great and well kept facility. Yes, there is a place to sit and wait if you don't want to go on the ice.

Clarendon Community Center Park

Why isnt the water on ????? Its 2021 its the 4th of july weekend . its been racial tension at this park with staff janitors and front desk. Im going report this issue to mayor office with 10 emails and photos to her odfice and to ward Alderman located on Wilson and Broadway

Great plsc ed for a family day hangout, BBQ, and swimming. Free parking on the side of streets across from the park.

The bocce court was in need of maintenance, overgrown with potholes. Fieldhouse currently closed, so bring your own set to play. A fair amount of day drinkers in the park.

Small, clean park. Close to the Lake Michigan. Not crowded. My Bernie the Doggo likes it and feels good there :)

Maggie Daley Park Tennis Courts

It's a nice public court. 6 tennis courts in total. Each court can also be used as 2 pickle ball courts. Quite busy at times.

Great place to play. Rules are to go to the main gates around court 4, place your racket in order of left to right in queue. On the start of the next hour you may get on and the other players must leave.

If one were to create a tennis video game with different levels of court venues, this would be the highest level of public courts available to unlock. The lowest would be like a town park with cracks and a playground next door. This is quite the opposite. Set in the city center, with great views of the skyline, the Maggie Daley Tennis Courts are the apex of public tennis experience. Not a crack to be found. Rotations are made every hour on the hour if you are a courteous tennis player and people are waiting.

Pickelball needs its own area

Brooks (Gwendolyn) Park

It's a fairly large space for children to run in. 2 smaller parks for young children and slightly older children. Well maintained clean and friendly neighborhood atmosphere, also not too over-crowded gets a 5 star rating from myself and my niece ^_^.

Nice open grassy space that allows for a good game of tag or hide and seek. Nice kid friendly park probably for ages 3-10.

Decent park, a friendly and peaceful atmosphere next to the lake and you could actually see the lake ,gated safely for the kids and next to the beach ,good for a picnic and the smaller kids... will be back...

A great little park. Nice equipment, but a part of the park backs on to some poorly maintained real estate. Could at least fence that off. Watched the eclipse here (which was a bust).

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Sam for his exceptional assistance when I had to reschedule my reservation from last Saturday to this Saturday. Despite the scheduling mix-up, Sam stepped in to ensure our women's event turned into a more productive and enjoyable experience. He graciously included us in their women's pickleball league, where we had the opportunity to play alongside some truly talented players. Special thanks to those ladies as well; they are undoubtedly pros.

Our experience transformed from novices to playing like the pros, thanks to their guidance. The women’s pickleball league offers affordable classes, providing an excellent way to play, have fun, and connect with others. This is our second visit to SPF, and we find the venue to be very welcoming and a great place to socialize.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to have a good time and meet new people.

I hosted my birthday party here this past weekend and I can’t say enough good things! Our group of 30 had a blast playing pickball, learning from our instructor, Laura, eating delicious food from the cafe (shoutout chicken Caesar wraps!!) and drinks from the bar. The staff at SPF was amazing - from Melanie/Brooke on the events team who helped us pick the menu and plan the logistics, to the GM Devin who met us at the door the moment we arrived and helped coordinate everything from start to finish, to Owen our party host and of course our Toss and Spin instructor, Laura, who was amazing! Truly such a great customer experience.

If you’re considering hosting a party or event here, cannot say enough positive things! We are all pickleball converts and will absolutely be back again!

Lakeshore Sport & Fitness

I booked a birthday party for my daughter because it was hard to find someone who would respond ahead of time. I chose this place out of a few last minute options.

The upside: The party was very nice. The hosts were amazing, friendly, down to earth, and social. I didn't have to do much running around because they did everything for me which is serving the guests, lighting the cake candles, and cutting the cake. It was a nice and cozy atmosphere. The party was expensive but the host gave me an alternative to take the sides away from the choice of pizza which ended up being $150 cheaper. They decorate for you, too.

The downside: the minimum guests allowed was 15 children. I had a hard time finding 15 kids for my daughter and I reached 12 but some people canceled. I still had to pay for the absent people. Which is $40 per child including their pizza fee which is $22 per child. The boxes of pizza were so small and the pizza was mediocre. The cake tasted "different" as one guest said. I tasted it myself and it was ok. You can't bring your food. If you're not a member, you get charged an extra $350.

Overall: the children had fun and enjoyed it. I think the party is expensive to pay the hosts equally but the food didn't make sense with the expensive. I would book again if the downsides improved.

If you are a childless adult looking to workout - do not go here. Join FFC, Midtown, or even Xsport. This place is terrible value unless you have young kids and need daycare. The membership rate is $150+ for outdated equipment, kids running around everywhere at all times, high schoolers misusing and hogging equipment, and overall just very little space to actually workout despite the facility being huge. There isn’t that much actual equipment in comparison to commercial gyms.

Also the front desk staff is not helpful and it’s impossible to get ahold of anyone in billing or membership. I’ve been over charged several times for things I didn’t sign up for or incorrect membership fees. Honestly a scam.

I’m really disappointed in my experience here, with the exception of the tennis programs which are great.

I love this place. It has absolutely everything an individual or family could want. I joined as a college student at DePaul university and then returned with my children as well. Excellent exercise and yoga classes and the best tennis courts and coaches. The outdoor deck and dining area has some as the best views of Chicago which makes up for the lack of outdoor pool. There is an excellent indoor pool for serious swimmers. Did I mention the customer service is stellar.

I’ve been attending Lakeshore Sport and Fitness for over eight months now, and it has been an incredible experience! The classes are fantastic—Monday yoga with Manny is the perfect way to start the week, and Dylan’s cycling sessions on Tuesdays always keep me motivated. Carla’s body conditioning on Wednesdays is tough but so rewarding!

A special shoutout to Kid Kampus and their amazing counselors, who have made it possible for me to maintain my wellness routine while being a busy mom. I can’t recommend Lakeshore enough for anyone looking for a supportive, fun, and effective fitness community!

Gompers (Samuel) Park

Chicago has many parks that are vastly underrated. Gompers Park happens to be one of them. It offer great deal of variety from tennis court, baseball field, fishing pond, swimming pool, to field house with gym. It is surprisingly large and offers many good programs. It is also conveniently located with easy access to two bus lines and close proximity to the highway. Due to its size, the park never feels crowded. One of the hidden gems of a park on the north side.

Keep your kids away.  There is a “newcomer” encampment now. This park is no longer safe nor is it usable for the community

This is a great park with plenty of open space and is right next to the Northbranch trail. I've lived near this park for years, and never spent too much time here but I recently brought my son here after we got some snow only to realize this park is ideal for sledding. The minute you walk up to the park you have hills that are steep enough for for kids and even adults to enjoy. My son, my nephews and myself decided to grab our sleds on a whim and had a great time while we were here. If you are looking for a good spot to sled, definitely try this place out or shout out some strong recommendations.

Warren Park Field House Recreation Center

If there was a restroom I would give it five stars.

Warren Park is a fantastic place for the entire family,  there is a spacious field house
and a  big parking lot, there is tennis courts, basketball too, if volleyball or baseball is your thing, you can enjoy those too.

I love this park, we have a picnic every year at this park and it is always a fun time.

The lounge area is super comfortable & makes it easy to refuel between games. Plus, it’s easy to get to with parking and public transit nearby. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned player, this place is a game-changer for Chicago’s pickleball scene. Can’t wait to come back!

IMHO best place to play pickleball in the city of Chicago.  Court surface is excellent, bounces true, spacing is very good, you won't feel crowded, there are no obstacles that you have to mind and the lighting is uniform with no glare.  On top of that it's a very good crowd, I have been playing in open play, there are a lot of excellent players with good skills and a very friendly vibe.  Whether you are a beginner or an advanced player, this is the place to play!  It's a well-managed facility that is great and getting even better when instruction gets going!  Owners are visible, involved and very focused on players having a great experience, hat off to the Sears!

Had a great time cleaning this park today! It is a beautiful place and truly enjoyed the experience!

Beautiful park full of flower filled hiking trails along the edges. There's baseball fields tennis fields a huge lawn area for sunbathing or picnics. A clean bathroom area. A very extensive hot dog /food concession stand and great bike trails. There's also a place to rent canoes. This park has everything! Such an amazing treat!

Great park and facilities for family barbecues, romping with the dogs, nature trails and jogging.   Easy parking.  Today is the 4th of July -- it was busy but not crowded -- we chose it over the Lake to avoid the crowds and parking nightmare -- we made the right choice!

I really enjoy the restorative work they've done, but I could do with less open lawn and baseball diamonds, it's a great place to take your dog or kids, hard to believe it's in chicago.

Grant Park Pickleball Courts

Pickleball - The game for the those with mobility restrictions, the elderly, or just out of shape 30 somethings - has a new court in the SLoop. Of course I love when new things come to the SLoop. Unfortunately, like the tennis courts next door, there will be times when groups of people come claiming they have it reserved even though no one knows how to reserve the space. Or some “regular” will make their own “rules” to the place. And of course with all the areas in Grant park that are supposed to be for the public, these courts will be closed 75% of the summer for private paid events like Lollapalooza etc. Anyways, it’s a nice place to run around with my dog in the morning. He enjoys finding all the pickleballs that people are too lazy or careless to pick up.

16 pickleball courts in downtown Chicago, nice! If you want to play at that court, line up there, I was told.

I like place overall. However, I encountered a group of people occupying two courts, with two of them taking up one court, claiming they had lessons until 8 PM. They mentioned they were from something like the Chicago Public Pickleball organization. This was confusing and disappointing, as the rules clearly state that private or public lessons are not allowed on the courts, which is posted on the door.

The courts are pretty good, but they do slope towards the drains for drainage, so the court isn't level. There isn't a paddle up system, so it is a bit confusing on who plays next and if it is 2 on & 2 of our 4 on & 4 off.  That is assuming that those on the courts don't start another game.

The Grant Park Pickleball Courts in Chicago offer a dynamic outdoor playing experience with 16 lighted courts, all within a beautiful park setting. Midtown Athletic Club

We love it! The best Athletic Club in town, sprinkling clean all the time; the workers are super nice, the installations are beautiful, sport lessons from 5:30 am till 9pm I think,... as a mom this has been so convenient  I can come whenever I have the chance. The outdoor pool is such an amazing season for us as a family this has been a super plus!!
I seriously said this has made our life better!

Midtown Athletic Club has great equipment and a friendly staff, but the complete disregard for hygiene makes it impossible to recommend. What I am sharing has already been brought up several times with staff as an attempt to have these concerns addressed with no luck.

There are NO showers on the pool deck, meaning people jump straight into the pool or hot tub without rinsing off. Basic hygiene isn’t enforced.

The hot tub and pool are regularly used by people still in their sweaty workout clothes, who then strip down to their underwear and get in. Management has been notified multiple times, but nothing changes.

The locker rooms are filthy and don’t appear to be cleaned with any regularity.

The gym is packed with teenagers who have no concept of gym etiquette, making workouts frustrating for those who actually want to workout.

If you value cleanliness and basic hygiene standards, look elsewhere.

I must say that this nice gym has a hotel in it! This hotel has the most impressive gym I've ever seen. When you stay at the hotel, you get to use the facilities. Otherwise, I would not be able to afford the hefty fees to go here. The gym is so nicely decorated. So many machines. I noticed a lot of people would come to the gym, hang out, work on their laptop and then use the gym. There is even a golf simulator - two of them actually!

The walls in the hotel room are a bit thin, as you can hear weights dropping and group classes, but the attentive staff provides earplugs to mitigate the noise. The room is spacious with a well-thought-out layout. Overall, a great experience for fitness enthusiasts.

Very pleasant workout areas. As for me, I love my boxing and it’s hard to find a nice clean athletic facility to accommodate the many training styles but here at Midtown, everyone has a space.

Welles (Gideon) Park

This is a really nice park! You can have a baseball game, a tennis match, a soccer game, a picnic under the tree, a seat on a bench, a walk through the trails, a look from the gazebo, fun at the kiddy playground... or just a walk in the park!

Beautiful  park always filled with kids depending on time of day.
Had a family wedding here was a beautiful  out come with the exception  of the people trying to sell everyone icecream the whole time after everyone said no ...

Be careful of the Croatian bocce players they were saying lascivious comments to anyone who got in the way of their bocce game.  I sat near them to garner their wisdom and turns out they are reverse knowledgeable. They have an implied ownership of the southwest corner of the park, so just avoid it. Otherwise *****

Playground, indoor pool, gym, gazebo and they even do library events and a Stroller Strides class out here that's super fun!

Brands Park

This is one of the best parks in Chicago. Amazing baseball diamonds. Softball leagues play here. Tennis courts that are maintained and in great condition. Plenty of area to walk around. Awesome staff on site that are always eager to help you with anything. Cool dolphin statue in front which is great for photos. Wonderful place.

Small local park that could use seriously better management. Recently discovered their supervisor resigned, which explains the lackluster afterschool staff. The park itself is in fair condition except for overgrown tree roots which have created hazzards in the playspace that need to be addressed. The area needs professional resurfacing and is at present a very real  safety risk. The after school park staff so far this school year seem poorly trained (they clump, do not have sufficient activity to keep children invested, & and there seems to be very little structure or supervision). The staff seems trained to deflect any complaints of inappropriate behavior (violence, cursing, hand gestures etc.) from their students by saying not all the kids are with them, which is strong evidence of poor leadership. As an educator it is really sad to see this failure to attend to their kids (the teachers at Linne & Merlin seem able to manage their classrooms expertly when they visit, it looks like training problems or staffing problems with the park district as they just let them do anything without intervention). I am seeking resolution to these issues.
